Bondage has been used throughout history for many reasons. Punishment, torture, restraint, and in some cases as a form or play or sport. Magicians use it in their acts to entertain crowds. Police use it to restrain criminals from harming themselves or others, or to prevent them from escaping. Sometimes they're used as a simple scare tactic, hanging within plain sight.

 

Restraints come in many forms. Some people use makeshift items that just happen to be handy, such as a rope or a long peice of cloth, cord, or even wire.

 

Some restraints are self standing, meaning they don't have to be linked to a support or a wall. Others, require securing them to something solid to anchor them in place. Some people like a combination of the two.

 

Looks play a part for some people too. So that they can be pretty, scary, or even look degrading. The options are endless.
